The United States State Department has approved an emergency sale of 12,000 one thousand pound bomb casings to Israel, valued at about 151.8 million dollars, as fighting intensifies between Israel and Iran. The sale was authorized by the Bureau of Political Military Affairs, which said the transfer would strengthen Israel’s ability to address current and future threats and reinforce its national defense.
In addition to the munitions, the package includes government and contractor engineering, logistics, and technical support services. President Donald Trump said major American defense companies have agreed to quadruple production of advanced weapons, following joint strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets.
The emergency approval bypassed the usual congressional review process after Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a waiver citing national security interests under the Arms Export Control Act. Some lawmakers criticized the move, arguing that circumventing Congress raises questions about the administration’s preparedness and justification for the escalating conflict.
