Russia Is Sharing Intelligence With Iran, U.S. Officials Say

Russia has shared intelligence with Iran during the ongoing United States and Israeli military campaign, according to American officials. The information reportedly includes satellite imagery showing the locations of American warships and military personnel, intended to help Iran target those assets. Officials said Russia has provided updated intelligence since the conflict began, though it remains unclear how effectively Tehran has used the material.

Iran has launched drones and missiles at American bases across the Middle East, killing six service members in Kuwait and damaging facilities in Bahrain. An Iranian drone also struck a building housing the Central Intelligence Agency station in Riyadh, though no injuries were reported. However, officials said Iran’s retaliatory capacity has weakened under sustained pressure from American and Israeli strikes.

While some officials described the intelligence sharing as part of a longstanding relationship between Moscow and Tehran, the development could further complicate relations between Washington and Moscow. Russia and Iran have deepened defense ties in recent years, with Iran supplying drones for Russia’s war in Ukraine and receiving technology and intelligence in return. The Kremlin has called for a halt to hostilities and a return to diplomacy, but has not publicly addressed the intelligence cooperation.
