West Asia tensions jolt leisure travel plans from coastal districts | Mangaluru News - The Times of India

Leisure travel from coastal Karnataka to Gulf destinations has dropped sharply following rising tensions linked to the Iran and Israel conflict. Travel agencies in Mangaluru reported widespread cancellations to Dubai and other Gulf locations, with many travellers postponing plans due to safety concerns, changing advisories and disrupted flight routes.

Agents said airspace restrictions and altered flight paths also affected trips to destinations such as Vietnam and Sri Lanka. Some travellers were briefly stranded in Dubai after sudden closures of key air corridors, though they later returned home on special flight arrangements.

Tour operators have cancelled multiple group departures to the United Arab Emirates scheduled for April and May, citing uncertainty and customer reluctance to risk last minute disruptions. Pilgrimage tours to Israel are also under review as travellers closely monitor developments.

Cruise tourism connected to Mangaluru port faces similar uncertainty. Upcoming cruise calls that include Gulf stops may face route changes or cancellations depending on the evolving security situation and decisions taken by operators.
