A Karachi entrepreneur turned a personal struggle with bedbugs and termites into a thriving home maintenance company that now serves more than 5,000 clients across the city. Samina Faisal Khan founded ForiFix in 2015 after years of informal work and research revealed a gap in reliable, professional services for households, particularly those led by women.
The company offers services ranging from pest control to painting and handyman work, with women making up as much as 95 percent of its clientele. Many early customers were single mothers or women whose male family members lived abroad. Over time, Khan observed a shift as more women began making household decisions independently rather than deferring to male relatives.
Beyond serving clients, Khan has built a largely women-led backend team handling customer service, marketing and operations, offering flexible work arrangements to support their needs. From modest beginnings and limited profits, the business has grown to handle dozens of clients daily, focusing on strengthening its presence in Karachi while fostering greater confidence and decision-making power for women at home.
