Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has announced his support for Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in efforts to disarm Hezbollah, according to state media. Speaking during a video conference with senior European officials, Sharaa said Syria stands alongside Lebanon in pursuing the disarmament initiative.

Sharaa also stated that Syria has reinforced its defensive forces along the border to prevent the conflict from spilling into Syrian territory. He added that the measures aim to combat cross-border groups and stop them from using Syrian soil for operations.

Earlier, Aoun accused Hezbollah of seeking the collapse of the Lebanese state following its decision to launch rockets toward Israel, intensifying tensions within Lebanon and across the region.
