The Israel Defense Forces said it carried out a strike in the Gaza Strip that killed two members of the Hamas movement who were planning imminent attacks on Israeli troops. According to the military, the operatives posed a real and immediate threat to forces operating in the area.
During separate operations in Rafah, troops from the Golani Brigade discovered the bodies of two additional Hamas operatives who had been hiding in a tunnel. Soldiers also located a cache of weapons during the sweep.
The military has previously assessed that dozens of Hamas fighters were trapped underground in eastern Rafah near the ceasefire line. In recent months, more than 50 have been reported killed or captured. The Golani Brigade is expected to withdraw from Gaza and redeploy to northern Israel amid ongoing fighting with Hezbollah.
