Israel expanded its airstrikes in Beirut, striking central neighborhoods in a significant escalation of its campaign against Hezbollah. The attacks destroyed multiple buildings, including the complete collapse of a residential structure, marking the first time since the war began that an entire building has been leveled in the city center.
Until recently, most strikes had focused on Dahiya in southern Beirut and other areas in eastern and southern Lebanon where Hezbollah maintains strong influence. However, recent attacks have increasingly targeted central Beirut, often without prior warning. Israeli officials said the strikes were aimed at Hezbollah infrastructure and personnel.
At least 10 people were killed and 27 others injured in the overnight bombardment, according to Lebanon’s health ministry. The strikes rattled residents and prompted renewed evacuation warnings for much of southern Lebanon, as fears grow that the conflict could intensify further within the capital.
