Southampton moved into the Championship play-off places for the first time since the opening weekend with a 1-0 victory over Norwich, as Tonda Eckert insisted his side will not change their approach. Finn Azaz scored his 10th goal of the season to secure the win, extending Southampton’s unbeaten run to 13 matches and lifting them above Wrexham into the top six.
Eckert stressed the importance of humility despite the momentum, saying his team must continue to take things step by step with many matches still to play. He praised goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, whose seven saves — including a crucial late stop — earned a fourth clean sheet in five home games and proved decisive in holding onto the lead.
Norwich, who had won 10 of their previous 13 league games, remain nine points behind Southampton. Manager Philippe Clement said he was proud of his team’s performance despite the defeat, insisting their focus will remain on their own displays rather than the league table as the season approaches its final stretch.
