A Michigan synagogue has shared photos of extensive fire damage a week after a man drove a pickup truck into the building and killed himself. The images show blackened walls, exposed ceilings, loose wires, and tables of fruit and snacks left behind from the moment the midday attack disrupted activities near an early childhood education room.

Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township said it released the photos after other images circulated in the media, causing harm to survivors. In a statement on social media, the synagogue said, 'This is our sacred space, and we will be the ones to tell its story.'

Authorities said the 41-year-old man rammed his truck through the synagogue doors after sitting in the parking lot for two hours, striking a security guard. Security personnel exchanged gunfire with him before he killed himself. The truck contained commercial-grade fireworks and several jugs of gasoline. No children or staff members were injured.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said a motive has not been determined. The man's former wife had contacted police shortly before the attack, saying he appeared distraught and suicidal after recently losing family members in an airstrike in Lebanon.
