Saudi Arabia has ordered Iran's military attache, his assistant and three embassy staff members to leave the kingdom within 24 hours after declaring them persona non grata. The move follows what Saudi officials described as continued Iranian missile and drone attacks on Saudi territory amid the ongoing war involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
According to Saudi authorities, hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones have targeted the kingdom since the conflict began, with most intercepted. Early Sunday, three ballistic missiles were detected near the capital, Riyadh; one was intercepted and two landed in an uninhabited area. Saudi officials warned that continued attacks would lead to further escalation and serious consequences for bilateral relations.
The conflict has disrupted oil and natural gas exports across the Middle East and prompted similar diplomatic actions elsewhere, including Qatar's expulsion of Iranian military and security officials after an हमला on a major gas facility. Saudi Arabia, which restored diplomatic ties with Iran in 2023 after years of hostility, has signaled it may respond militarily and is coordinating closely with the United States as regional tensions intensify.
