A resident of the Palestinian village of Deir al-Hatab said settlers attacked his home overnight, attempting to burn him and his family alive while they were inside. Samer al-Amar told The Times of Israel that assailants surrounded the house, threw stones, and hurled Molotov cocktails while pouring fuel in an apparent effort to set the building ablaze.
Al-Amar said his daughter first alerted him to the attack while she was studying, after which he saw settlers outside and shut the door. As the firebombing intensified, the family — his wife and four children aged 15 to 24 — escaped through a stairway leading to the roof, which he described as their only way out.
Other villagers eventually arrived, prompting the attackers to flee. The family escaped without physical injuries, but al-Amar expressed fear for their future safety, saying there is no one to protect them and that such attacks continue without accountability.
