Iranian club Tractor Football Club will travel to Saudi Arabia for a playoff against Shabab Al Ahli of Dubai, with the winner advancing to face Buriram United of Thailand in the quarterfinals of the Asian Champions League Elite. The draw for the next stage was held in Kuala Lumpur after previously postponed western zone playoffs were rescheduled for April 13 to 14 in Jeddah.
Jeddah is also set to host the quarterfinals, semifinals and final from April 16 to 25, as organizers aim to complete the tournament amid hopes that tensions in the Middle East will ease. Football officials said participating clubs have supported measures to ensure matches are played only when conditions are stable.
In other matchups, Japan’s Vissel Kobe will face the winner between Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal and Al Sadd of the United Arab Emirates. Defending champion Al Ahli Saudi will meet Al Duhail of Qatar, while Al Ittihad will play Al Wahda for a chance to take on Japan’s Machida Zelvia. Additional competitions, including the Asian Champions League Two and the Asian Challenge League, have also been rescheduled, with matches set for centralized venues in April.
