Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it turned back three container ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, stating the vessels were warned and denied transit. The announcement came after Iranian officials rejected claims by the United States president that the strategic waterway remained open.
According to the Guards, the ships were of different nationalities and were attempting to navigate the strait when they were intercepted. The force said the action was part of enforcement measures in the area.
The Guards declared that the Strait of Hormuz is closed to vessels traveling to and from ports linked to allies and supporters of what they described as Zionist and American enemies. They added that any ship connected to such ports would be prohibited from passing through the corridor.
