As Mekorot approaches its 90th anniversary, Shira Singer, Head of Digital Customer Experience, said the government-owned company is far more than a traditional utility focused on pipes and pumps. Speaking at the Jerusalem Post Women Leaders Summit, she described how the organization is embracing advanced digital systems and artificial intelligence to manage Israel's most vital natural resource.
Singer explained that supplying continuous water to the entire country depends on dozens of complex technological processes. Mekorot views artificial intelligence as a 'superpower' for employees, designed to enhance precision and performance rather than replace workers. Staff from a wide range of roles are being supported through training and change management to adapt to the new systems.
She emphasized that the stakes are especially high for a national water provider, where technological errors could threaten the ability to sustain human life. By carefully integrating advanced tools with human expertise, Mekorot aims to strengthen efficiency, accuracy, and resilience, ensuring a reliable water supply for decades to come.
