Talks between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkiye on the war in the Middle East could take place this weekend in Pakistan, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The meeting was initially planned to be held in Turkiye but was moved because Pakistani officials needed to remain in their country.
Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator between Iran and the United States, relaying messages between the two sides as the conflict continues. The planned discussions would bring together the foreign ministers of the four Muslim-majority countries to address the ongoing crisis.
Germany's Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said he expected a direct meeting between the United States and Iran in Pakistan very soon. Although Tehran has not officially acknowledged talks with Washington, it has reportedly sent a response to President Donald Trump's 15-point proposal to end the war through Islamabad.
