A Dubai gym has introduced a sleep-focused fitness class designed to help people struggling with stress and restlessness achieve better sleep. The initiative, called NapTime, is described as the first class of its kind in the Middle East and aims to reframe rest as an essential tool for performance rather than a luxury.
The session follows a four-stage structure that gradually guides participants toward sleep. It begins with gentle yoga-based stretching, followed by controlled breathing exercises to lower heart rate and reduce stress. Participants then take part in meditation accompanied by live music before settling into a dedicated sleep environment equipped with beds, duvets, pillows and eye masks.
A clinical psychologist involved in developing the class emphasized that quality sleep plays a vital role in muscle repair, hormone balance, cognitive function and emotional wellbeing. Experts behind the program say the preparation stages are key, helping calm the nervous system so that rest comes naturally, and they also recommend simple at-home routines such as light stretching, slow breathing and limiting mental stimulation before bedtime.
