Opposition slams Netanyahu for tolerating racist comments by former and potential spokespeople

Opposition leaders are criticizing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after reports that his incoming spokesperson, Tal Gilboa, has a history of making racist and inflammatory remarks. According to a television investigation, Gilboa allegedly targeted Russians, members of the LGBTQ community and meat eaters in past statements, prompting accusations that such views are incompatible with a role in the Prime Minister's Office.

The report cited comments in which Gilboa said she would refuse to donate blood to non vegans and used derogatory language toward various groups. She was also reported to have clashed with opposition activists and insulted demonstrators calling for the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza. The Prime Minister's Office has not confirmed her appointment and has not responded to requests for comment.

The controversy follows the recent resignation of former spokesman Ziv Agmon, who stepped down after reports that he had used racist language toward lawmakers of Middle Eastern descent. Opposition Leader Yair Lapid and the party representing many Russian speaking voters accused Netanyahu of tolerating racism, saying such attitudes have no place in public office.
