Report: Arrests in Paris after attempted bombing near Champs-Élysées

Three people have been arrested in Paris after a suspected terror plot near the Champs-Élysées was foiled in the early hours of Saturday. Police intervened when a man allegedly attempted to plant a makeshift incendiary device containing fuel and an ignition mechanism near the Paris headquarters of Bank of America. A second individual reportedly fled the scene, while two additional suspects were detained the following day as the investigation widened.

France's anti-terrorism prosecutor's office has taken charge of the case, and the first suspect, a minor, remains in custody under strict anti-terror legislation that allows extended detention in terrorism-related cases. Authorities are investigating allegations of attempted damage by fire in connection with a terrorist undertaking and participation in a terrorist criminal conspiracy.

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said the plot could be linked to escalating tensions involving Iran and the United States and Israel, suggesting possible proxy actions. Investigators are working to determine whether the suspects acted alone or were part of a broader network, as security services heighten vigilance amid concerns about retaliatory attacks across Europe.
