Pakistan and China have issued a joint call for an immediate ceasefire in Iran, followed by peace talks between the United States and Iran. The proposal was announced after Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing.
The plan also calls for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the establishment of a peace agreement backed by the United Nations. The initiative is intended to de-escalate tensions and create a framework for longer-term regional stability.
In a televised interview, President Donald Trump did not deny awareness of the proposal and said discussions about ending the war are progressing. A source familiar with the matter said the White House does not oppose the joint initiative put forward by Pakistan and China.
