India has intensified diplomatic outreach following military action by the United States and Israel on Iran and subsequent retaliatory strikes by Tehran on Gulf nations. External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar held discussions with counterparts from Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, underscoring the need to respect sovereignty and territorial integrity while prioritizing the safety of Indian nationals in the region.
During conversations with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, Jaishankar conveyed India’s concerns over rising tensions and called for de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy. He also engaged with Gulf leaders to discuss regional stability and the protection of the nearly 10 million Indians living and working in the area.
The developments have disrupted travel, leaving passengers, including Indians, stranded at airports in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. More than a thousand Indian students from Jammu and Kashmir are currently studying in the affected region, adding to concerns over their safety amid the escalating conflict.
