UAE seems to push back on report it's considering joining strikes on Iran

The United Arab Emirates has issued a statement appearing to push back on a report that it is considering joining the United States and Israel in military strikes against Iran. The report claimed that Abu Dhabi was weighing the unprecedented step following Iranian drone and missile attacks on its territory.

In a statement carried by the state news agency, the United Arab Emirates said it has not taken any decision to change its defensive posture and emphasized that it is not a party to the conflict. The country also stated that it has not allowed its territory, waters, or airspace to be used for attacks against Iran, reaffirming its commitment to de-escalation, good neighborly relations, and the Charter of the United Nations. While stressing its right to self-defense under international law and calling for responsible journalism, the statement stopped short of directly denying the initial report.
