United States and Israeli forces bombed targets across Iran for a fourth consecutive day, with President Donald Trump claiming that Iran's air defences, navy and military leadership had been largely destroyed. Strikes reportedly hit Tehran's presidential office, security council facilities, military airfields and sites alleged to be linked to nuclear development. Satellite imagery indicated significant damage to political and military compounds, while Iran said there had been no release of radioactive material from key nuclear facilities.
Iranian authorities have not issued detailed public responses, but the Iranian Red Crescent reported that hundreds of people have been killed since the offensive began, with other monitoring groups claiming many of the dead are civilians, including children. Funerals were held in southern Iran for victims of a strike on a school, which Iranian officials blamed on the United States and Israel. Washington said it would not deliberately target civilian infrastructure and that any incident was under investigation.
Iran has retaliated with missile and drone attacks against Israel and Gulf states hosting American bases, causing deaths in Israel, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and at sea near Oman. Drones also struck diplomatic sites in Saudi Arabia and Dubai. Tehran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, threatening global energy shipments, while the United Kingdom and France moved naval assets to the region amid fears of further escalation.
