The Lebanese army has arrested 27 people over the past two days for illegally possessing weapons and ammunition, following a government decision to ban Hezbollah's military activities. Those detained include 26 Lebanese nationals and one Palestinian, apprehended at checkpoints in several areas.
According to the army, the arrests are part of exceptional measures aimed at maintaining security and preventing armed displays across the country. The crackdown comes after the Lebanese government formally prohibited Hezbollah's military operations.
The ban was issued after the Iran-backed group launched rockets toward Israel in retaliation for the killing of the Islamic Republic's supreme leader, escalating tensions in the region.
