India's ministry of external affairs has rejected claims that the United States is using Indian ports to carry out military strikes against Iran amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East. The denial came after a former United States Army colonel alleged in a televised interview that American forces were relying on Indian naval facilities following damage to their own bases. India dismissed the statement as 'fake and false' and cautioned against spreading baseless claims.
The clarification follows intensifying hostilities involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Coordinated airstrikes by the United States and Israel reportedly killed Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, triggering retaliatory missile attacks by Iran on Israeli territory and American military bases in Gulf countries.
In a significant escalation, a torpedo fired from an American submarine sank the Iranian warship IRIS Dena in the Indian Ocean, resulting in the deaths of 87 personnel. The conflict, now in its sixth day, has reportedly killed more than 1,000 people in Iran, around a dozen in Israel and at least six American troops. India has expressed deep concern and urged all sides to exercise restraint and ensure civilian safety.
