An Iranian deputy foreign minister has told the British Broadcasting Corporation that Israeli air strikes in Lebanon represent a grave violation of the recently announced United States-Iran ceasefire agreement. Saeed Khatibzadeh said Lebanon was included in the two-week deal reached on Tuesday, a claim disputed by both the United States and Israel.
Khatibzadeh said Washington must choose between war and ceasefire, warning that continued strikes would undermine the agreement. He maintained that Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, had adhered to the ceasefire terms and denied that the group had escalated hostilities.
Meanwhile, Lebanon's health ministry reported that at least 203 people were killed in Wednesday's air strikes. Israel said the attacks targeted Hezbollah command centres and military sites.
