The Israel Defense Forces said that just minutes before a ceasefire with Hezbollah took effect, troops carried out a special operation in southern Lebanon, capturing a strategic ridge in the area.
According to the military, the Israeli Air Force's elite Shaldag unit landed on the Cristofani Ridge, located several kilometers north of Mount Hermon, and established control there shortly before the truce began.
The operation was approved by Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, who monitored the raid from the Air Force command center יחד with Air Force chief Tomer Bar, the army said.
