Iran has said the Strait of Hormuz cannot be reopened due to alleged breaches of a ceasefire, as tensions continue to simmer in the region. Shipping data showed that one vessel, Euphoria, resumed sailing south after reporting an attack, later positioning itself near the port of Khor Fakkan. Greece confirmed that another ship, Epaminondas, was attacked, though officials said it was not clear whether it had been seized by Iranian forces.

The United States said Iran's seizure of two ships in the Strait of Hormuz did not violate the ceasefire because the vessels were neither American nor Israeli. Meanwhile, the United States Department of Defense announced that the Secretary of the Navy would step down immediately, without giving a reason, in the latest senior leadership change.

The White House has not provided a timeline for renewed negotiations or possible military action, a move seen as giving Washington flexibility. Officials suggested the pause could allow space for diplomatic proposals within Iran while avoiding further military escalation that could unsettle global markets.
