Scottish holidaymakers are expressing concern after airlines announced flight cuts and ticket price increases due to soaring jet fuel costs. Fuel prices have doubled since the outbreak of war involving the United States, Israel and Iran, disrupting production and transport in the Middle East. Several airlines have introduced surcharges, raised baggage fees and reduced schedules, with one major German carrier cutting thousands of short haul flights.

Despite these pressures, travel experts say most summer holidays from Scotland are expected to go ahead as planned. They argue that airlines are unlikely to cancel flights بسبب fuel shortages, though some schedule changes and modest fare increases are possible, particularly later in the year. Many large airlines secured fuel at earlier prices, helping to shield travellers in the short term.

Travel agents report a sharp drop in consumer confidence, with customers worried about cancellations and rising costs. However, industry figures maintain that popular European destinations should operate largely as normal this summer, advising travellers to remain flexible and delay non essential bookings for longer haul trips until closer to departure.
