The Palestinian Football Association has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after the world governing body for football declined to sanction Israel over clubs based in the West Bank. The governing body said no action would be taken against the Israel Football Association, citing the unresolved and complex legal status of the territory under international law.
Palestinian officials said they had exhausted all legal avenues within the global federation and described the decision as unjust. The appeal was filed on April 20, with representatives stating they would pursue the case through the full legal process.
The decision not to sanction Israel drew criticism from human rights organisations, while a separate investigation by the global federation resulted in disciplinary measures against the Israel Football Association for discrimination. The association was fined, ordered to display anti-discrimination messaging at matches, and required to implement a prevention and reform plan. That ruling remains subject to potential appeal.
