Hezbollah Commander Killed: Senior Hezbollah commander killed by Israel in Beirut suburbs: source close to group

A senior commander from Hezbollah's elite Radwan force was killed in an Israeli air strike on Beirut's southern suburbs, according to a source close to the group. The strike, which targeted an apartment where Radwan leaders were reportedly meeting, marked the first attack on the area in nearly a month. Israel's prime minister said the military had targeted the commander of the Radwan force, identified by the source as Malek Ballout.

The Lebanese health ministry said at least 11 other people were killed in separate strikes across southern and eastern Lebanon, including in the town of Saksakiyeh, where dozens were wounded. Israel said one of its soldiers was severely injured by an explosive drone in southern Lebanon, as cross-border hostilities continued despite a ceasefire that began in mid-April.

Since early March, Israeli strikes have killed more than 2,700 people in Lebanon and displaced over a million, according to Lebanese authorities. The World Health Organization reported more than 150 attacks on healthcare facilities, resulting in over 100 deaths and widespread damage, as Israel said it would continue efforts to weaken Hezbollah under the terms of the truce.
