United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio said there are encouraging signs in ongoing talks with Iran, but cautioned that no agreement has been finalized. He emphasized that diplomatic efforts are still underway, with regional partners such as Pakistan working to help advance negotiations, including meetings taking place in Tehran.
Rubio stressed that President Donald Trump prefers reaching a strong agreement through diplomacy. He described a negotiated settlement as the administration’s top choice and said achieving a good deal would be ideal.
However, Rubio made clear that alternative measures remain available if talks fail. He reiterated that the president has been explicit about pursuing other options should a satisfactory agreement with Iran not be reached.
