UK police says it's open to probing sexual misconduct claims against former prince Andrew

Police in the United Kingdom say they are open to investigating a claim of sexual misconduct against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Detectives have contacted the lawyer of a potential victim following reports that a woman was brought to Windsor in 2010 for sexual purposes.

Thames Valley Police emphasized that their inquiry is not limited to allegations of misconduct in public office. Mountbatten-Windsor, who was stripped of his royal titles last year, is also under investigation over claims that he shared sensitive information with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his time as a trade envoy. He has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged.

Authorities said they are reviewing material released under transparency legislation in the United States and are carefully assessing all information received. Police stated that any report made by the woman would be handled with care, sensitivity, and respect for her privacy, while experienced detectives continue to examine evidence and appeals from the public.
