image sourced from original article at Israel's military said a 19-year-old sergeant was killed during combat operations in southern Lebanon, bringing the number of Israeli troops killed in the conflict to 23. The soldier was identified as Nehoray Leizer of the 601st Combat Engineering Battalion.
The military added that another soldier was severely wounded in the same incident. Hostilities with the Iran-backed group Hezbollah began on March 2.
In total, 24 Israelis have been killed since the fighting started, including 23 soldiers and one civilian contractor.
