Tahawwur Hussain Rana, accused in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, has been extradited from the US to India under the India-US Extradition Treaty. Rana, a Canadian citizen, was accused of conspiring with his childhood friend David Coleman Headley to assist the Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the attacks. Rana allowed Headley to open an office for his immigration services firm in Mumbai, which was used as cover to scout sites for the attacks. Rana was convicted in 2011 for providing support to LeT and for his role in an aborted plot against a Danish newspaper.
