Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema will issue a historic apology for the city's wartime persecution of Jews on April 24, coinciding with Israel's Holocaust Remembrance Day. The ceremony will take place at Amsterdam's Hollandsche Schouwburg theater, which was used as a collection point for Amsterdam Jews before their deportation. The city will also allocate €25 million to support and strengthen Jewish life in Amsterdam.
