'India will need 50 more airports in next 5 years:' Aviation secretary - The Times of India

India will need 50 new or enhanced airports over the next five years as aviation growth continues to remain strong, according to Union aviation secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam. India is expected to be the world's fastest growing market for air travel until 2053, with aviation growth outpacing that of China until 2027. The Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions are also set to see significant growth in air travel, with combined investments of $240 billion dedicated to upgrading existing facilities and building new airports between 2025 and 2035. ACI is calling for more liberal air service agreements from India.
