Former national security adviser Fiona Hill has stated that Donald Trump wants to govern the US in a similar fashion to Vladimir Putin. She highlighted that both leaders share a similar view of the world and want to create a hyper-personalised presidency without checks and balances. Hill also mentioned that Trump wants to reset the relationship between the US and Russia and has an interest in forging a personal relationship with Putin. Additionally, she noted that Trump wants to extricate the US from its support for Ukraine and push the Europeans to take more responsibility for their own security.
