Nine in 10 guilty of dirty habit that is fueling surge in hemorrhoids

Doctors are reporting a sharp rise in hemorrhoid cases, with modern habits like prolonged phone use in the bathroom being a major contributing factor. Recent research shows that bringing smartphones to the toilet significantly increases the risk of developing hemorrhoids, as it leads to longer periods of sitting and added pressure on rectal veins. Surveys reveal that the vast majority of adults, especially younger people, regularly use their phones while on the toilet, with many spending more than six minutes per visit. Alongside technology use, low-fiber diets and sedentary lifestyles are also fueling the surge in cases, prompting experts to recommend dietary changes, increased physical activity, and limiting distractions in the bathroom. Most cases can be managed with lifestyle adjustments, but prevention remains the best approach, according to health professionals.
