NRL investigates stars' hidden insult to Middle Eastern fans

The National Rugby League Integrity Unit is investigating Wests Tigers players after several were seen making an offensive hand gesture towards Canterbury fans during a heated match at CommBank Stadium. The gesture, considered highly insulting in some Middle Eastern cultures, was directed at a section of the crowd known for its strong Middle Eastern support. Tigers players Samuela Fainu, Sunia Turuva, Brent Naden, and Latu Fainu were all involved, with Naden also appearing in a now-deleted social media video repeating the gesture and using offensive language. The incident has sparked a divided response among fans, with some condemning the players' actions as disrespectful and others defending their right to celebrate. The controversy follows another tense moment when former Tigers player Lachlan Galvin, now with the Bulldogs, was verbally abused by a fan before the game, raising questions about security measures at the stadium.
