The Human Resources Subcommittee in the Knesset convened to address the issue of suicides within the Israeli military. Brigadier General Amir Vadmani reported a total of 54 soldiers who have died by suicide since the beginning of 2023, with numbers rising from 17 in 2023 to 21 in 2024, and 16 cases so far this year. Committee members expressed frustration over the military's refusal to disclose figures regarding suicides among former soldiers and those who sought recognition as casualties. Lawmakers called for greater transparency and the establishment of a dedicated committee to oversee mental health and suicide prevention efforts within the army.
