A researcher uncovered that over 100,000 sensitive conversations from ChatGPT were accessible through Google searches due to a sharing feature introduced by OpenAI. This feature allowed users to generate links to their chats, which could then be indexed by search engines if users opted in. As a result, highly personal discussions, including confidential contracts, relationship issues, and even criminal schemes, became publicly searchable. OpenAI has since disabled the feature, citing privacy concerns and is working to remove indexed content from search engines. Despite these efforts, many of the exposed conversations have already been archived by researchers and others.
