CM Saini announces inclusion of honey in Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana in boost for beekeepers | Chandigarh News - Times of India

Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced the inclusion of honey under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, aiming to guarantee fair prices for honey producers and encourage scientific beekeeping across the state. Speaking at a state-level workshop in Kurukshetra, Saini revealed plans for a dedicated honey sales and storage facility at the Integrated Beekeeping Development Centre, along with a new quality control laboratory costing Rs 20 crore. The Ramnagar institute, developed in partnership with Israel, will be upgraded to a national-level research centre for apiculture.

The state is actively supporting beekeepers through training, subsidies of up to 85 percent on equipment, and facilities for honey processing and bottling. Under the Beekeeping Policy-2021, Haryana aims to train thousands of beekeepers and significantly increase honey production by 2030. Saini highlighted the growing role of horticulture and allied activities in rural prosperity, noting the expansion of horticulture acreage and the strengthening of farmers through various support schemes.

The chief minister encouraged youth and women to start their own honey brands and tap into global markets, assuring full financial and technical backing from the government. The initiative was further endorsed by the agriculture minister, who emphasized the government's commitment to boosting farmers' incomes through diversification and promotion of allied sectors. The workshop saw participation from officials, experts, and beekeepers' representatives.
