Cyprus has sent 1,200 metric tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea, with the shipment arriving via Ashdod in Israel. The cargo, pre-screened in advance, will be distributed by World Central Kitchen under the supervision of the United Nations delivery mechanism. This aid comes amid a severe hunger crisis in Gaza, where more than 61,000 Palestinians have died during nearly two years of conflict, and over 200 have succumbed to malnutrition or starvation, according to local health authorities. The operation saw significant contributions from Cyprus, Malta, and other international partners, with facilities in Cyprus continuing to serve as a key transit point for humanitarian relief. Talks for a possible 60-day ceasefire in Gaza are ongoing after previous negotiations stalled.
