Jail anti-Assam elements working against natives: BJP | Guwahati News - Times of India

The Assam branch of the Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly condemned remarks made at a recent citizens' convention, accusing several prominent figures and organizations of working against the interests of indigenous people in Assam. The party claims that statements opposing the eviction of Bangladeshi infiltrators reveal longstanding issues of illegal encroachment that flourished under previous governments. BJP spokesperson Kishore Upadhyay specifically named former government advisors and intellectuals, alleging that their comments threaten the existence of Assam's native communities and destabilize the region's peace.

The party also demanded the arrest of Jamiat leader Mahmood Madani, accusing him of insulting the Assamese community by linking local eviction drives to international conflicts. BJP further criticized Assam Nagarik Samaj and its leaders, asserting that their actions and sympathies towards foreign nationals undermine Assamese self-respect and harmony. According to the BJP, these activities are part of broader conspiracies against the current state leadership, which they credit for thwarting anti-indigenous plots.
