The Eilat Magistrate's Court has extended the detention of Asher Goldstein, an 88-year-old man who recently confessed to murdering his son Sa'ar in 1974, only to later recant his confession during police interrogation. Goldstein, who previously served a prison sentence for the murder of his wife Levana in 1976, was brought to court in handcuffs, which were removed at the judge's request. Police stated that new investigative actions have strengthened the suspicion against Goldstein, despite his retraction. Goldstein is terminally ill and had confessed to drowning his son, a death previously considered accidental, before changing his story.
