United States President Donald Trump is set to host Edan Alexander, a former hostage abducted from southern Israel, at the White House today. The meeting coincides with the second anniversary of the October 7 attack, during which Edan and over two hundred others were taken into Gaza. Edan, who holds both Israeli and American citizenship and served as a lone soldier, was released after nearly two years in captivity through a deal brokered by the American administration.
Edan previously shared with President Trump that his treatment improved after Trump won the presidential election. He also recounted how seeing a photograph of his parents with Trump during his captivity gave him hope. The meeting comes shortly after Trump announced a new plan to end the conflict in Gaza and secure the release of the remaining hostages.
