Federal prosecutors have arrested Mahmoud Amin Ya'qub al-Muhtadi, a Palestinian man living in Louisiana, for his alleged involvement in the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. According to a criminal complaint, Muhtadi assembled a team of armed militants and crossed into Israel, coordinating with the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the National Resistance Brigades. Investigators found evidence on Muhtadi's phone linking him to the attack and to other acts of violence, as well as messages showing his senior role within the group. Muhtadi is accused of lying on his US visa application about his militant activities and is now facing charges of supporting a terrorist organization and visa fraud. His arrest was based in part on information provided by Israeli authorities, and he is currently being held in a Louisiana jail.
