A group of 154 individuals released from Israeli prisons under a recent peace deal are currently staying at a luxury hotel in Cairo, raising concerns among security experts and guests. The group includes senior operatives from Hamas and a member of ISIS, some of whom have been convicted of serious crimes such as murder, kidnapping, and organizing suicide bombings. Their presence at the Renaissance Cairo Mirage City Hotel, which remains open to the public, has led to unease as they share facilities with unsuspecting tourists.
Israeli officials described the release as a difficult but necessary measure to secure the freedom of hostages held by Hamas and to facilitate a temporary ceasefire. The released individuals are reportedly allowed to apply for local visas and residence permits, with some potentially relocating to other countries in the future. Despite their backgrounds, they have been seen enjoying the hotel's amenities alongside Western tourists, and some have received financial support from the Palestinian Authority. Security services are expected to monitor their activities closely.
