An Israeli court has stripped an Ethiopian immigrant of his citizenship after determining he concealed a murder conviction from authorities. The man, who arrived in Israel in 2021 under the Law of Return, falsely claimed he was divorced during his citizenship interview. In reality, he had been convicted of murdering his wife in Ethiopia in 2009 and served less than half of a 20-year sentence before his release for good behavior. The court found that the citizenship was obtained through deception and ordered its revocation.
