Hudaifa al-Mashhadani, the head of a German-Arab school and a vocal opponent of Hamas, survived an attempted attack at a Berlin subway station. An unknown assailant tried to push him onto the tracks as a train approached, but al-Mashhadani managed to avoid falling. The attacker also made threatening gestures, leading al-Mashhadani to believe he was targeted due to his public stance against Islamist extremism. Berlin's mayor condemned the attack and praised al-Mashhadani's commitment to dialogue and understanding.
